The 1945-1989 Łodź was first of all a city of dreams. The dreams were about its becoming a metropolis, a modern city. An overwhelming majority of those dreams have never got a chance to come true. This exhibition will show daring unrealised projects including those of high-rise blocks of flats with green terraces around Wolności Square, huge commercial premises with workshops located along Tuwima St., university campuses designed as mega structures, the Museum of Art at the Zdrowie Park and the adjacent kindergarten, or geoid forms of a palm house. It is an unusual story of what Łódź might be like, but has never happened to become. During the varnishing-day there will be a meeting with one of the authors of the unrealised visions demonstrated at the exhibition. All visitors are welcome.
